Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader

Rule Book front cover
The existence of a science fiction table top game in development by Games Workshop was made known through Citadel Journal in 1986 and Rogue Trader was officially released at Games Workshop's annual Games Day event in October 1987. Created by Rick Priestly, The game was sub-titled Warhammer 40,000 in order to clearly differentiate it from 2000 AD's Rogue Trooper comic series. The game featured rules that were closely modelled on those of its older fantasy counterpart, Warhammer Fantasy Battle. The majority of the book was written by Rick Priestley who was also responsible for WFB.

The gameplay of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader differs from its main modern-day descendant (Warhammer 40,000), in that it was heavily role-play-oriented, with great detail placed on weaponry and vehicles and the inclusion of a third player (the Game Master) in battles, a role not too different from the Dungeon Master of Dungeons and Dragons. Rogue Trader game introduced some races that were later removed from the Warhammer 40,000 setting, such as Squats (Warhammer dwarfs in space), Zoats (also present in Warhammer Fantasy Battle) and the Space Slann (a humanoid frog-like race).

Plants Vs Zombies PC Game

So while I don't play many PC games and I have spent many a hour playing Plants Vs Zombies in the last few days. Sadly this has effected my painting time but oh well its a nice change of pace.

Plants and zombies aren't exactly what you'd call natural enemies, given the latter's single-minded hunger for brains and the former's complete lack thereof. Despite being brainless, plants apparently appreciate the hand that waters them, so when zombie hordes come to eat your brains, it's Plants Vs. Zombies. To protect your own grey matter, you create defensive fortifications around your house by cultivating a wide variety of cute, combat-ready plants to handle the goofy varieties of zombie attackers. Plants Vs. Zombies is solidly rooted in the tower defence genre, but it grows and branches in such a charming, accessible way that almost anyone can pick it up and have a lot of fun. The basic gameplay is pleasantly engaging, but it will take seasoned defenders a few hours before they can play legitimately challenging levels. Fortunately, Plants Vs. Zombies rolls out new units and environments at a good pace, and the minigames, puzzles, and Survival mode offer some clever and challenging diversions. It's a delightful game that is both addictive and accessible, and you'll never look at your garden the same way again.

Reaper Bones Part 4: Jabberwock

So once again I'm trying to use another of the Reaper Bones range, this time the Jabberwock

Bones Jabberwock
The Jabberwock with eyes of evil (not included) comes smashing through the cold and damp swamp (also sold separately), comes in 5 separate parts. The parts are: right arm (the mini's right, not yours), 2 separate wings, the head, and the rest of the ugly bastard.

The ugly bastard (I shall call him Tim) is quite large, and all the separate parts fit remarkably easily with a tab and slot system (though glue is needed to secure them in place because they also slide apart remarkably easily).

When Tim arrived in the packet (From Miniature Heroes only 36 hours after I ordered it) the base along with Tim's legs was slightly warped.  A slight problem, easily fixable.

Combat Zone - EM4 Miniatures skirmish game

Combat Zone is a 25mm skirmish game set in the near future. At the end of the 20th century the governments promised that the Internet and World Wide Web would be made available to us all, it would be in every school, library and public building. Unfortunately this never happened. Society was split by those with computer skills and access to the information and those who didn't. Corporations familiar with the ways of the Net grew more powerful. They fed the populace with biased information, digitally remodelled pictures, everyone believed what they saw or read was true. Governments were brought down by scandal. Important ministers employed by the Corporations. The population turned to the only ones they could trust, the ones who provided them with jobs, housing, and leisure facilities, the Corporation. They built secure zones within the cities. The local police force were employed by the Corporations to police these zones. Those of no use to the Corps were left outside the Corporate walls to fend for themselves. They lived in a harsh, violent, and lawless society. The only people for them to turn to were those with money, and power. The Gang leaders, drug and arms dealers. They provided them with food and shelter, and an identity. They were part of a Gang, and they had a purpose. To protect their turf from raids from other gangs or attacks by the neighbouring Corps, who formed military units to eradicate the gangs. Life was lived in a Combat Zone, and there was no escape.
