SAGA: Anglo-Danish 4pts Complete

So after a rather horrible night last night spent in A&E with the Wife who had a allergic reaction to something (No not my wang!), I finished my 4pts this morning. They were finished Wednesday but since them I've re-based and done some work on the shields.

Black Friday, Cyber Monday.. Orcs Nest?

So since today is Black Friday a trend brought over by those bloody.. sorry lovely Yank-a-doodles, me and my Wife decided it was high time for a trip into London. What's a trip into London without going into the infamous Orcs Nest (And Forbidden Planet but shhh we won't talk about how much my Wife sent in there).

Nostalgia or Why we buy silly things..

Oldhammer, Retrogaming, collecting/hoarding or whatever else you wish to label is simply a sentimental longing or wistful affection for a period in the past.

Or

Nostalgia

We all have that same feeling of that ''Golden Age'' when we first looked upon the hobby we now love and some cases despise. My ''Golden Age'' is around '94 to '98 when I was deeply rooted in the hobby and for a fat nerdy and very quiet kid a way to express himself and not feel quite an outcast.

My local hobby shop was and still is GW Watford, I remember or at least though my nostalgia tinted glasses a welcoming place as much as a smelly Heavy Metal booming shop could be I guess.

It was nostaliga which made me buy these are longing for them as a poor kid

SAGA: Anglo-Danish Ceorls Part 1

Arhhhh so at last my Mum and Auntie has been sent packing back down to Barnstaple and the family which gathered for my Mums 70th has dispersed back to their various holes.

As such I haven't had much chance to paint this week but I did knock out 8 Anglo-Dane Ceorls (Warriors).

2 Points completed, 4 to finish.

Wargaming Scenery: The bits that pushed the Wife to far... Balls!

So you may have noticed that on various interweb fauna I've been listing lots of lead for sale/dispatch.. Well it's really my choice in the matter, while we have now moved into a larger flat I'm still limited on my Hobby space which is already getting overcrowded by bits and pieces.

Well the Powers That Be as decreed that I need to decrease my collection of stuff that I'm not going to use, such as spares from completed projects.

What pushed her over the edge though is the amount of Terrain I've been collecting, it's nothing large in size but lots of little items such as Minefields, Barricades and Ruins.

Want to see what the actual piece(s) pushed her?

Epic (6mm) Genestealer Cult spares joblot for sale/trade

I don't tend to do for sale/trade posts on the Blog but I'm under orders to start shifting the bits boxes/lead piles I'm never going to use before I'm allowed to crack on with the scenery and gaming table (It does take up alot of space to be fair).

So up on offer today which will be the first of a few bits is my spare Epic Genestealer Cult bits, I finished the complete force for this years Bring Out Your Lead 14 along with a Ork force so I have no use for anything that's left.

SAGA: Anglo-Danish Huscarls Part1

Not too much painting done the last few days I'm afraid just a few and a few more undercoated. But I did finish 4 Huscarls (Banner, Horn and 2 Dane-Axes).

They are plastics by Wargames Factory Saxon Thegns costing about 45p each (£15 for 32), they are Ok but nothing special but do look better then I was expecting.

SAGA: Anglo-Danish Warlord

So following on from my last post I've been busy hunting though my lead pile and sourcing various bits and pieces for my Anglo-Danish (I'm sure there's a Bacon joke somewhere.. Hmmm Bacon *drools*)

I started with the Warlord, lucky for me he come equipped with a Dane Axe a state of the art weapon for the time. I also wanted to not to stick to historic 100% as well that just ain't my cup of tea (Or pint of Guinness).

Anyway hunting for my unloved projects I came across the perfect figure for a war loving Anglo-Bacon (Yup I found the Bacon joke).

The figure is a Ral Partha Tyrant Berserker, a rather nice figure If I do say so myself. Adds alittle fantasy touch to the setting :)

Gripping Beast's SAGA

In the last week I've been looking into Gripping Beast's game SAGA, Now I've been rather slow on checking out this game before now dew to the fact I never done anything ''Historic'' apart from a unit of Napoleonic Imperial Guard Dutch Grenadiers when I was 14 (And yes I messed up the Uniforms). Which to be honest put me right off Historics as I like to run non-cannon in my paint schemes.

Anyway,

Gripping Beast's Dark Ages miniatures skirmish. Each side has between 20 and 70 miniatures, organised into groups of 4-12 warriors. Miniatures are classed as Hearthguard, Warriors, or Levy, and an army comprises of 6 points of units (1 point = 4 Hearthguard, 8 Warriors, or 12 Levy).

Warband of The Bane Mistress: Part 9

At the beginning on the year I was working on my Slaaneshi Drow or Dark Elves if you prefer. But dew to other projects and partly burn out that these were shelved.

During my house move 2 months ago these got pretty bashed up with 90% of the figures having some form of damage (The Brides of Slaanesh suffering the most).

But having won a few Ebay lots of various Dark Elves I was missing from my collection (Including my favourite Dark Elf ever made) I bit the bullet and decided it was time for the repair and repaint to happen.

No Law 2000 Miles: Judge Minty - Part 2 + Ma & Pa

Well finished painting Judge Minty, while painting there was a feck up though *Grumbles*. I bough some Nuln Oil from my local GW and noticed it had a black top (Like they had when the range first came out) but thought nothing of it, anyway when I used it the wash dried Glossy despite a good 30 seconds of shaking, I'm guessing the old medium has begone to break down.

So I had a shiny Minty... lucky enough a second wash from another almost empty pot of Nuln Oil got rid of the shininess.

No Law 2000 Miles: Judge Minty - Part 1

Due to his age his views start to change and he starts to think the people of the Mega City are not that terrible.  However, while on a mission with Judge Dredd he finds himself gun-to-gun with a small time thug.  Due to his reflexes not being as good as they used to be, the thug shoots first and Minty was hospitilised.  While laying in the hospital bed he Realised he was no longer fit to be a city Judge he decided to take The Long Walk out into the Cursed Earth to bring law unto the lawless. He encounters a small band of people in the Cursed earth he also has to deal with Radioactive dust storms.

Combat Zone: Scavengers, Rus-Co & Scatter Terrain

So last few days I have been busy painting as normal, trying to get everything painted in time for a game on Wednesday which I'm providing both sides for (Scavs and Rus-Co).

I'm also trying to get my own Terrain finished (Some case even started), I'm still umming and errring about my home made stuff, part of me wants to just leave it and move on to the bought stuff.

Chico goes Mantic.. Wait! What!?

Yep it's true I do indeed now own some Mantic (Or will be), It's not my fault honest! Blame the Wife she went and ordered me some for my 31st Birthday.

I'd just like to state I hate plastic (Resin is fine, Plastic Resin mix isn't), the feel and the way paint takes too it for me is rather off putting.

Anyway have no fear! I won't go killing her just yet as she actually choose something useful.

Deadzone upgrade set.

Wargaming Scenery on a Budget

Now yesterday I posted up the second part of my Scenery on £4 series of posts ( Part 1 & Part 2). Now they aren't great but do the job they were made for.. to game with without breakages or any worries.

Now I haven't just been working on the cheap end and have started on some mid-range pieces (Still haven't spent more then £20 on the following though).

Now these haven't been built by me but rather bought.. from a well known store, Yep Pets at Home heh.
