Fimir meets Kings of War

So I'm having my first complete game of KoW2 later and to see how compatible are WhFB armies are I grabbed my Fimir.

I figured Fimir are well used to doing proxy duty anyway.

So what lists to use?

Well both Ogres and Orcs seem compatible and you are allowed to use allies (With some restrictions) they will be used together if needed.

So we decided to on 600pts, small game but large enough to have a few units.

For this list I just went with the Ogres as I wanted to use as many Fianna Fimm figures as I had painted.

My list:

Captain - 2 Handed Weapons
2x Warrior Regiments - 2 Handed Weapons
Warrior Hoard - 2 Handed Weapons

Making army lists in KoW is simple, all units has a number of Sizes ranging from Troop(10) to Legion(40). Certain units are more limited such as Large Inf which starts as Regiment(3) (Regiments for non Large Inf is 20).

Since it's going to be my first game I didn't take any Magic or Magic Weapons or anything to funky.

But this is a good start.

I'll let you know how I get on.

  1. Looks great, hope the game goes well, I like Kings of War a lot. What I would say is that at low points its going to seem fast and simple - there's more depth/tactics with more units. Items don't change the game significantly, just allow for some fun flavour, and you can differentiate units from each other of the same type with them and/or add some interesting finesse where you need it. Spells help but again don't dominate the outcomes.

    1. Aye indeed so, low points is just for the moment just to get the basics sunk in.. No doubt we'll go larger and hopefully get a few others interested. Cheers

  2. Hope you enjoy the game - I've been intrigued by it before and my mate Ollie was quite keen on the Ogres they do - especially the price he could get a decent sized army for!

    1. I've watched a few games played and read up a bit, it doesn't seem like a rather good game. You and Ollie should give it a bash :)

  3. They look sensational Chico... and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing them on the tabletop. Are you planning on giving Age of Sigmar a go at some point or do I need a bar of soap to wash my mouth out with ;-)

    1. I played AoS once and watched it played maybe 3/4 times at my club... and well it can fuck off and die hehe. All the games ended on turn 2 with a big bash up in the centre and no tactics other then run forward and charge. It's like SAGA if you take away the Dice, Balance, Tactics and added Roids hehe

  4. Great looking miniatures Chico and I think they should work very well in KOW. When you get up to 1500 or 2000 point games then the system really does shine, in fact the bigger the games the better!

    1. I love it at the size I played so no doubt larger games will be even better :)

  5. Sounds good. I have KoW 1 lurking on a hard drive somewhere, I may need to look at KoW2. Of course I have so many rules that have never been played. Perhaps it's time to make a plan.
