Warmaster: Araby - The Project Begins

As regular readers know I like my smaller scales and one of my favourite scales is 10mm.

Already having 1 10mm army (My Orcs) I thought it was time to get them someone to bash or in the case of my Orcs lose too.

So what army to choose? It has too be a army I can build from alternative figure ranges as GW figures sell for silly (and I do mean silly) amounts.

Dark Elves? Tempting but I'm not too keen on the alternative minis.

Kislev? These ended up being close to the army I went with as most of the army could be built from Historic Polish.

Skaven? Sadly no suitable alternative ranges I liked, Gun wielding Mice though...

Araby? Bingo! Alternative ranges? Check! as there's both Fantasy and Historic ranges that'll fit and I'll get to run fun toys like Flying Carpets and elephants.

Well anyway one small test order and a few weeks wait and here's the first bits though the door:

So for my first order I went with a mix of Pendraken Dark Age Arab Spearman/Command and Heavy Cav & Norman Heavy Cav. A odd mix with the Norman and Arab Cav but at 10mm it's more what the look like at a distance and how they are painted that'll blend the 2 types of Heavy Cav.

I think for my next order I'll either add some more Pendraken Arabs either Archers or Guard types and Ottoman Elephants or go to Magister Militum and add some of their Oligarchy of the Sands Fantasy range which has all the fun stuff like Flying Carpets and Djinn.

Of course I have to get this little lot painted first...

Thanks for looking!

Ta Ta for now!

    1. Ta though it's not that much, 3 Units of Cav (9 Stand), 2 Units of Spearman (6 Stands) plus 3 or 4 Character stands. This was just a small order too both test the water and make sure I'm not too overwelmed :). I'll get racking on these at the weekend as I have the rest of my Cultists to finish first.

    1. Sadly my eyes are still getting worse, but now it's more the case with the better/brighter weather I'm not straining to see as quite as much and lets be honest I'm on limited(ish) time for the smaller scales so best get them done while I still can.

  7. Love the old Warmaster Araby figures, and you are correct about them selling for truely silly amounts.

Looking forward to seeing what you produce! Bonus points if you compare the various lines so we can see how they size up.

    1. Aye the Araby figures are pure sex on legs and I'd love to own some but not at the prices they sell for. As for scale shots we'll see but the historic figure ranges they all tend to scale smaller then GW/Fan ranges anyway.
