Bolt Action - Operation Sealion/Dad's Army

So as you might know Warlord Games are releasing a Campaign book for Bolt Action  based on the ''What could have happened'' British Invasion code-named Operation Sea Lion.

The year is 1940, and the German invasion of Britain has begun. With this new campaign book for Bolt Action, players can fight the battles of World War II's greatest 'what if' scenario. Defend the cliffs of Dover and the beaches of Kent from wave after wave of German landing craft. Parachute into the Home Counties in a surgical strike to capture Winston Churchill. Rally the Home Guard in a last, desperate attempt to keep England free of the Nazi invaders! Containing new rules, scenarios, and unit types covering all of the unique features of this alternate history campaign, it offers a chance for all Bolt Action players to truly rewrite the history of World War II.

Now seeing as last years Bring Out Your Lead hosted at Foundry I picked up more or less the full set of Foundry's Home Guard it was due time I got working on them again.

I already had one section finished so I already had a good start.

Anyway enough talking I'm sure you want to see some pictures, being me shite pictures but whatcha expect? hehe

So like most my WW2 it's Winter themed, and I quite like the only Winter Gear given to these Home Guard is a scarf or 2 and maybe some longjohns.

So we have finished:

Captain Mainwaring
Sergeant Wilson
Lance Corporal Jones
Private Walker
Private Godfrey
15 Homeguard Inc BAR, Lewis Gun, 2 Thompsons
Light Mortar
Jones Van

Still plenty left from my Lead Pile to finish including 2 more Sections, Bikes, FAO's and of course the missing characters like Pike and Frazer.

The Van above is just a weather up diecast Lledo Van, cheap at just a few quid and the last boy that I am didn't even need to paint it.

Those waiting for more BoB/WW2 Chinese posts I'm still waiting for both my Northstar Order and my LAF trade to turn up in the post so they'll be a little while yet.

Still plenty of other stuff in the lead pile to crack out!

So Ta Ta for now!

  1. Looks like you bought that stuff of a trilby hat wearing spiv, Chico! Your old boys are looking grand. Isn't it time they were unleashed on those nasty nazis with the gasmasks?

    1. Arhh the Gasmasked Germans are for Konflikt 47 which is a Werid World War Game, so they'll be more at home with Werewolves, Vampires and Stomp Wobots than fighting these old gits ;)

  2. Those look fantastic Chico! I pre-ordered the Kindle version of the book and am really excited to see what's included.

Wonder if there'll be a commandos option?

    1. Yeah I'm rather looking forward to this book, can't wait to get some 5th Columnists, Black Shirts and other Nazi lovers to fight against these.

Need a Uboat crew too :)

Commandos for that Pulp Comic feels would also be handy.

  3. Outstanding stuff, Chico. Great painting, and the Van is a great find too. You're really cranking these out currently and its great to have you back posting so regularly. Hope to see many more :-)

    1. Thanks mate, selling off aload of my collection really focused my thoughts and energy allowing me to get though the surviving lead pile at quite some speed.

Plenty more posts to come and I have some random projects coming up to break up so much WW2/WWW2/BoB posts as well.

  4. Great stuff, love the van. Really looking forward to this supplement.

    1. Thank you, Warlord seem to be hit and miss with the Supplements but all the early signs seem to shown this one is going to be good.

  5. Fantastic, they look great, nicely done Chico :-)

  6. They look just fantastic, Chico. I love the winter theme. The Invasion of Britain is a great setting for a game. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

    1. Thanks I loved the Dad's army tv show growing up so it's going to be a bit nostalgic playing with them :)
