Beyond the Gates of Antares - Warlord HQ Antares Open Day 2018

So It's that time of year again where I managed to get a day off work and headed up too Warlord Games HQ for their annual Antares Day.

Once again I didn't join in the Events tournament as it's not my cup of tea.

But thanks too a little bit of begging the nice chaps I did get the event minis:

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Ghar Rebels Pt.3: Rebel Creeper & Fartok

Welcome boys and girls to the House of Horrors

"Hey there, do you like excitement?" (yeah)

"Do you like suspense?" (uh huh)

"Do you like Nel Carter?" (no)

"Good 'cause you won't find her here, this is the House of Horrors

And for you it's absolutely free, step right in" (thanks)

Ahem... sorry the damn songs been stuck in my head all day and now it's your turn hehe.

Anyway welcome to Pt.2 of my Ghar Rebels army build, a Rebel Creeper and the Arch Rebel himself Fartok.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Ghar Rebels Pt.2: Black Guard

Right anyway on with the show, this month I decided to join in with the Beyond the Gates of Antares (IMTel) pages Hobby Pledge for Charity ran by the Primus Shard and it's a chance to win £20 worth of toys.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Herts Shard Meet Up No.2

Last night was the 2nd Herts Shard gaming night, just the 2 of us this time but still a rather fun day of random banter, dice rolling and rules we got wrong :D.

We played 2 games, the first we stopped after turn one and moved terrian around and reduced the table size after the first game became clear it wasn't making for a run game.

Below are some pictures of the 2nd game

Boromites Vs Ghar - 750pts

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Ghar Rebels Pt.1: First Squads

Once again welcome  too the loyal Readers, Minions, Bots and random link clickers to OoaB.

So 2 posts in one week?

Yeah that doesn't happen that often anymore.

Anyhoo as you may have guessed from reading the title that I have started yet another Gates force, this time the little shooty feckers known as the Ghar Rebels.

You may remember way back in early April when I posted the Beyond the Gates of Antares - Shall I? Blog post that I just couldn't choose between Ghar and Boromites.

In the end as we all know I went with the Rock Gods themselves, the Boromites. But now it's time for some Ghar loving but not the Ghar Empire as first thought but their more entertaining Rebels.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Herts Shard Meet Up No.1

Sunday evening the Herts Shard (A small group of Hertfordshire and surrounding areas based players of Gates) met up for our first get together.

Short story is that I lost but I had a blast and had some good old banter.

There was 2 games going:

Ghar Vs Algoryn

&

Boromites Vs Algoryn Vs Ghar

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Warlord HQ Open Day Pt.1

So yesterday myself and a fellow Watford Wargamer Club member and friend woke up early and headed up to Nottingham for the first ever Gates Open Day at Warlord HQ.

Of course we had to stop on the way up at the infamous Watford Gap Services for a Bacon Roll and a much needed wee (Not in that order though hehe).

Tables for the Tournament and Open Gaming tables at the back

Now we weren't playing in the Tournament but rather both brought up forces for the Open Games and we were invited by the Primus Shard gaming group to take part in their 3 Vs 3 Game.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromites Pt.5: Rock Father & Overseer Squads

Two Blog posts in one week and both Gates related, aren't you all lucky pluckers (Don't say that too fast mind).

With progress stillcontinuing on my Boromites in preparation for the Gates Open Day at Warlord Games HQ on the 1st of July.

Now bear in mind I'm not sure of what I'll be using in terms of a list so I'm just painting up everything I own and seeing what people I can find for a game or 2 on the day.

So today's offerings:

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromites Pt.4: Gang Fighters and Army Shot

Welcome Sinners, Minions, Bots and other unwashed masses once again to the dark dank area of the interwebs known simply as Oldhammer on a Budget.

So if you remember I'm working on a Gates force which will be used in the upcoming Open Day at Warlord Games HQ.

Since it's only just over 2 weeks away I need to pull my finger out and finish the last dozen or so Boromites and Drones.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromites Pt.3: Work Gang & Lavamites

Greetings loyal followers and new readers.

Today I continue my progress into the Worlds of the Antares Gates and more accurately my Boromite Clan.

Clan Thanor formally of Guild Rantide:

Being ejected from their Guild by the Guildess for failure to heed to the Matriarch nature of Boromite society, they have since turned to the unsavoury act of Pirates, Bandits and Mercs.

Hiring themselves out to both the Freeborn and the many million worlds of the Determinate.

After being ejected the outcast members of the Clan have undergone gene-therapy to enhance their skin colours to a brighter hue to reflect their new life and distance themselves from the still loyal members of the Guild.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromites Pt.2 - Test Paint Scheme

Afternoon loyal readers and Bots, can't forget you after all, when the Machines rise up remember I said Hi and I'm willing to sell out the Human Population hard... Aham..

So after the last post discussing bases (Part 1) I decided they were to large and switched over to the lipped bases. While only a few MM smaller they do look much better.

Warlord Games also got back to me about my missing Boromite Work Gang heads so hopefully they'll come in the post too before too long.

Speaking of Warlord Games I may or may not have placed a order while on the site for the Hardback Rulebook + free £20 Box and the Boromite Dice Bag + Dice.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Boromites Pt.1

Well I went and did it didn't I?

Yep another game for me to spend money on!

So if you remember from this POST I was ummming and eerrring on what race I should do (If I did of course start the game).

So Boromite's won out by simply being nice chunky metals over annoying multi-part plastic kits.

Beyond the Gates of Antares - Shall I?

So whats all this then eh?

Well a number of people on my Bloggy List have been posting up bits and a pieces from Beyond the Gates of Antares (You know who you are!) and it's been tempting me to maybe dip my toe in the Sci-Fi waters once more.
