More Cult goodness

So to me Oldhammer isn't about using 100% old figures/rules but a state of mind and how you approach the hobby.

So with that it mind my 'Stealer Cult is set up for gaming in 6th Ed 40k using the Imperial Guard Codex. So I've been looking around for suitable figures to use and for the most part I've stuck to the classic Cult figures with current Forgeworld Tanks and other current odds and sods (Arms/Lasguns/Bikes)

Then I came across this little bastard:

With a suitable paint job aka purple :) He will make a very nice Sly Marbo aka Rambo. At £9 he was also a bargain.

So what do you think?

  1. Impulse buying a shiny new toy and crowbar-ing it into your current project? Sounds Like wargaming in general to me, not just Oldhammer bro. ;)

  2. Sounds like a good plan to me. Remember there were ork hybrids in the Freebooter book.

  3. Funny but I don't picture stealer hybrids this way. I know Laughing Ferret used ghouls' heads to convert his with quite a result but to me Hybrids are more about crooked backs, multiple arms, big foreheads and brains than big mouths.
The best proxy I can think of are delaque gangers for Necromunda.
This lad is a little bulky to me since Genestealers tend to have quite thin arms compared to their strenght (like insects).
This looks like an ork to me but this is just personnal taste and therefore should matter at all. ;) Paint him the way you did on your other stealers and he will be perfectly good (maybe he is an orc hybrid rather than a human hybrid)

    1. My Fluff behind him is that he's a 3rd/4th Generation Ogryn-Hybrid as the bulk and mouth is quite suited to that idea. Plus went not using him as Sly he can be my Ogryn Bodyguard.

    2. Oh, that makes sense then, I didn't realise the size of the model at first. Fluff (and model) seems right in that case.

    3. Aye that's a 40mm Base he's on, quite looking forward to getting this figure in the post :)

  4. He's pretty sweet looking. I think I'll have to pick him up for something at some stage. I can see him working unconverted as a stealer Hybrid as well, and even moreso with some surgery...
