SAGA: Anglo-Danish Ceorls Part 1

Arhhhh so at last my Mum and Auntie has been sent packing back down to Barnstaple and the family which gathered for my Mums 70th has dispersed back to their various holes.

As such I haven't had much chance to paint this week but I did knock out 8 Anglo-Dane Ceorls (Warriors).

2 Points completed, 4 to finish.

So with 2 ponys complete I'm 1/3 the way though, I know I'm doing another point of each Huscarls and Ceorls but the final 2 points I'm unsure.

I have enough plastics (And few metals) to make a 3rd unit of both Huscarls and Ceorls but that'll leave me without any shooting which only Geburs (Levy) can take, but if I go the levy route I'll need to buy at least 1 more box of plastics (Wargames Factory Saxon Fryd or Viking Bondi) to get some unarmoured bodies which the Wargames Factory Saxon Thegn box I'm using lacks but with only 8 bows per box and each Levy unit numbering 12 I's still be only able to make 12 Levy. Plus that'll waste 20 unarmoured plastics and 12 armoured ones.

Another option would be to source some metal Anglo-Saxon bowmen or Citadel/Foundry Norse/Viking Bowmen. But thats money I havn't got sadly.

I also picked these up from Ebay to use as Fatigue Tokens:

I think they'll suit very well.. both me and the Warband heheh. Rather cheap as well 20 for £3 and they have many designs which I was hardpressed to settle on one as I wanted at least 4 of the designs :D

Anyway I have my first SAGA game with the Anglo-Danes against Welsh Sheep Loverson Wednesday.. wish me luck and may the Pagan Gods be watching.

  1. Good work! Worryingly, every time I see a post on Saga, I'm tempted to get into it. So try and hold off on feeding me with temptation, eh?

    1. Trust me and give in, it is rather cheap to buy into if you don't mind a little resourcefulness. The rulebook is expensive though but I managed to find one for £15 inc postage, as for the Warband I've spent £15 and a rummage though my bit box :) The dice and movement sticks I'll make myself.

    2. Well I know I have a good few Citadel Norse lying around anyway (not to mention Steppe Nomads, for which I even have the Wargames Illustrated issue with the Steppe Nomad battleboard in it), it's just that I need a new project like I need a hole in my head! I'll consider it once I've finished my gnomes.

  2. Looking good Chico; a suitably savage two points worth of Anglo-Danes. Nice find on the Ebay front too :-)
