SAGA: Anglo-Danish Huscarls Part1

Not too much painting done the last few days I'm afraid just a few and a few more undercoated. But I did finish 4 Huscarls (Banner, Horn and 2 Dane-Axes).

They are plastics by Wargames Factory Saxon Thegns costing about 45p each (£15 for 32), they are Ok but nothing special but do look better then I was expecting.

The kit is a pain in the ass but for the cost I can't really complain and I'm quite tempted to grab a box of there Viking Bondi and Saxon Fryd to use as a Viking Warband and some Levy for the Anglo-Danish.

My Huscarls are armed with Dane Axes and to help reinforce the fact they are the elite/better equipped of the Warband they have been given Kite Shields while Warriors will use rounds.

Until next time may the Alfather bless your runes and mead!

  1. Well they look very good in my books Chico, very good indeed. What's the pain with the set (which I've never seen), too many pieces to be glued and fiddly or something else?

    1. The biggest pain other then the lack of variety in body's /legs is that the necks all need to be cut down. Plus it's rather hard to pose these in a pleasing way.

    4. Did the 2H axes come with the thegn set or are they from a different box? I've purchased the gripping beast Saxon Thegn box and am now looking for some 2H axes!

    5. Yeah you get 4 sets of arms/axes with the Wargames Factory Thegn box, but you also get 4 sets of arms to hold those axes extra which is a shame as I'd like to have used them as well.
